Main Purpose of the Job:

The Senior Operator supports the Team leader ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the pre-treatment plant in the production of bio diesel.

What you will be doing:

  1. Working as part of a shift team ensuring KPI targets are met.

  2. Driving HSEQ compliance by setting high standards for the team and ensuring issues or events raised are recorded and actioned.

  3. Deputising for the team leader and mentoring operators to ensure plant safety, process efficiency, and troubleshooting operational issues.

  4. Working with the team leader to troubleshoot operational issues and resolve them promptly, coordinating with other departments as needed.

  5. Maintaining accurate records of plant operations, including logs, shift reports, detailed verbal and written handovers and incident reports.

  6. Providing on the job training to operators providing mentorship and technical assistance.

  7. Ensuring preventative maintenance is carried out on plant equipment according to the predefined schedule and apply safe systems of work

Your key relationships will be:

The Senior Operator will work closely with other departments, such as maintenance, HSE, quality and tank operations to optimise plant performance while adhering to environmental, health, and safety standards.

Job requirements

Skills and behaviours you will need to be successful:

  • Strong understanding of pre-treatment/chemical process operations, control systems, and troubleshooting techniques. (essential)

  • Familiarity with process equipment (pumps, compressors, reactors, heat exchangers, etc.) and their operation. (essential)

  • Experience managing the Safe System of Work  (essential)

  • Understanding of SHE legislation (essential)

  •  Is collaborative and builds effective relationships.

  • Able to work under pressure and make decisions.

  • Good communication skills

  • Is pragmatic and solution driven.

  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities.

 Specific experience/qualifications required:

  • Relevant certifications or technical training in process operations or safety.

  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or processing

  • Supervisory experience (desirable)
