Main purpose of the role:
Assisting in the delivery of financial reporting for the Argent Group. As Senior Financial Accountant you will contribute to the preparation of all internal and external reporting; providing accurate financial data to assist the business in measuring achievement of its objectives. This role will have involvement in the mentoring and development of more junior members of the team.
What you will be doing:
Key lead in the Argent Group month end processes, identifying and delivering process improvements, ERP upgrades and module implementations.
Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis, including general ledger accounts and sub-ledger accounts.
Preparation of statutory accounts, including notes and disclosures.
Being a key point of contact to the external and internal auditors.
Working with internal and external tax advisors to file corporation tax and VAT returns and preparation of reconciliations.
Working closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate classification and reporting of Excise Duty to HMRC.
Working closely with internal stakeholders to develop the use of automation tools to improve process and reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Supporting sustainability reporting requirements for Group reporting requirements.

Job requirements
Skills and behaviours you will need to be successful:
Understanding of latest accounting principles and financial reporting rules
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with strong capabilities within Excel
Previous use of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
Proficient in all Microsoft Office packages
Can process and understand information in a logical way
A continuous improvement mindset, identifying areas of improvement
Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
A flexible team player with the ability to work proactively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical skills – comfortable working with large amounts of data from multiple sources.
Ability to operate calmly under pressure.
Qualifications and experience required:
Recognised accountancy qualification
Previous experience in a similar role, contributing to month end close routines
Experience gained in a medium to large organisation or shared service centre environment, preferably in a multi-site European structure.
Experience of managing and developing junior employees (desirable)
