Argent Energy, a European producer of sustainable second-generation biodiesel, is undergoing an exciting expansion at the Port of Amsterdam as part of the company's vision to decarbonise transport worldwide. With production capacity soon to triple, we are expanding our Procurement team and seeking a new Procurement Manager to join us.

Main Purpose of Job
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing category strategies and managing the delivery of procurement activities in line with our policies and best practices. At Argent Energy, you will join an innovative, forward-thinking company at the forefront of the decarbonisation movement. Your work will be crucial in supporting our wider business objectives by ensuring safety, managing costs, enhancing services and managing supply chain risks to maintain business continuity.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Operational Activities:
- Develop and implement category strategies across the group locations, with focus on Utilities and Chemicals as well as supporting the Amsterdam site.
- Working with the business, develop a prioritised business plan for delivery of procurement services which is in support of wider operational objectives.
- Develop strong working relationships with key business stakeholders to share information and assist them in meeting their procurement requirements, from both geographic and category perspective.
- Ensure compliance with agreed policies and procedures, identifying and addressing non-compliance.
- Ensure supplier agreements are kept up to date and reflect new and appropriate legislation or regulations.
- Seek to continually improve procurement processes by participating in professional development and monitoring industry advancements.
- Establish good working relationships with suppliers to drive adherence to KPIs and manage performance, but also to collaborate on better ways of working.
- Apply tendering and contract award routines to deliver cost savings and / or improved services.
- Maintaining the Contracts Register, whereby stakeholders can identify the commercial benefits of the agreements and ensure benefit are maximised.
- Provide the business with insightful reports and data to help them manage their third party spend.
- Manage workload so that tender renewals and new sourcing initiatives are scheduled to create a balances workload and timely introduction of contracts.
- Provide direction and support to the wider business who are making the purchasing requests
- Ensure risks and issues are appropriately mitigated or escalated to protect the business from risk of loss.
- Take responsibility for supporting sustainability initiatives in support of our vision and mission.

About You
You recognize yourself in the following qualifications/ knowledge & experience.
Qualifications
- A qualified or studying member of a relevant institute, for example Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, NEVI I & II or equivalent
- Minimal Bachelor degree (business or technical)
Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Minimal 5 years Procurement experience in similar role in a process manufacturing environment
- A broad experience of leading tendering activities across multiple categories
- Knowledge of operating across a multi-location industry
- Exposure to continuous improvement, lean or other process improvement techniques
- Dutch speaking is preferred not required
Knowledge:
- Previous use of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Use of all Microsoft Office packages
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Exposure to handling contracts and legal documents so that contract terms and conditions can be assessed and clauses presenting business risk are identified

- Good presentation skills – able to interpret business requirements and explain this to the supply chain
- Good written skills – able to document tenders and contracts and interpret contract terms and conditions
- Negotiation skills – able to challenge and drive for the best business outcome
- Leadership skills – able to lead and develop a small team
- Influencing skills – able to convince business colleagues who are not direct reports to follow due process
- Engagement skills – able to build successful working relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
- Analytical skills – able to calculate financial commitments, cost savings and interpret financial data for ease of business use
- Ability to operate calmly under pressure
