PCS Engineer

Fulltime based in Amsterdam

Main Purpose of Job

You will be an experienced, enthusiastic and independent engineer with proven experience of developing and supporting Siemens PCS7.

Argent’s Biodiesel Amsterdam site is expanding; we are constructing new fuel from waste plants. You’ll work on new build projects, plant commissioning and supporting our operating units. You’ll join a site team that is focused on safety, the environment and production. You’ll also be part of the wider Argent team, able to remotely support projects and systems at our production sites in the UK.

You’ll have demonstrable experience of PCS7 projects and operational support. You’ll ideally have a strong grounding in instrument and electrical engineering so that you can support project development and the sites E&I technicians.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Operational Responsibilities:

    • Work independently on the Siemens PCS7 scope of projects including new plants and PCS7 upgrades. You’ll liaise with EPCm companies, control system contractors, site operators and the project team throughout.
    • Develop and programme smaller changes in-house. Contract out and manage larger scopes of work.
    • Proactively work with the other project engineers to balance a portfolio of projects and maintenance support activities.
    • Accountability for meeting a complex set of goals required by the Group including cyber security, reliability, management of obsolescence and uniformity across sites.
    • Use the site’s management of change process to ensure that all changes are safe, compliant and reliable. You will be a technical signatory for the management of change process.
    • Develop and implement ECI standards for the Group, working with other discipline engineers.
    • Support the site team in trouble-shooting operational issues and optimising plant performance. Time on the plant will be essential for both supporting production and delivering projects.
    • Support and optimise the site’s Operational Technology (OT) service contract.
    • Continue the journey towards cyber security through both hardware, software and behavioural improvements.
    • Work closely with the procurement team to develop and implement contracting strategies – get Argent the best possible value for money.
    • Use project controls to track and manage schedules, costs and risks. Report these clearly to both Argent and external stakeholders, such as the EA and HSE.
    • Support shutdown events to ensure both projects and maintenance are delivered to the required timescales.
    • Work closely with Argent’s other sites to improve processes, share knowledge and provide ECI engineering support where necessary. This will require occasional site visits to the UK.
